E/B wrap up

22nd ANNUAL ISLAND RUNNER ELK/BEAVER ULTRAS
Race report.
Hosted by Prairie Inn Harriers Running Club - Victoria, BC, Canada - May 2, 2009

The weather, although a little blustery and damp did not detract from a glorious event that virtually ran itself.
There were some stellar performances on the classic 10K lake trail.

Notably Hassan Lotfi-Pour of North Vancouver, our fastest runner at the Lake.

DV50K (the bootleg movie)

We made it back safely from the Mainland after a glorious day of running.
The race was won by Gary Robbins in an incredible time of 4:13:xx
He was so far ahead of us all that it was as if he was in another race from the rest of us.

A few BC 2008 top times

Ultrarunning Magazine is hardly comprehensive (few BC races sent in results, it seems) but it is the journal of record for the ultrarunning ultraobsessed crowd.

Their last issue was their annual Book of Lists issue, with several superb smokin'-fast BC performances among the top North America performances over the year. Woo-hoo!

MENS 100 MILE TOP 100

#42 Matt Sessions 18:34 Rocky Raccoon

12 Resons Why I Love Spring Skiing

  1. It's warm and sunny
  2. You can wear your Hawaii shirt instead of 3 layers and a Goretex jacket
  3. You can wear your shades instead of goggles
  4. You can ski right on to the lift
  5. Everyone who is sliding is in a good mood
  6. The bumps explode if you hit them right
  7. You've got enough days in your legs that you don't have to stop and catch your breath
  8. You can point your skis straight down without having to write a will
  9. Mashed potatoes are actually fun to ski if you go fast enough

Girls On The Run

Take an ordinary guy, get him a little too close to Dean Karnazes and he gets a great idea. Run from home Kirkwood, MO to Arkansas some 300 miles away. Why? To raise money for Girls on the Run.  I thought you folks would be interested in his story. Below are his words
