Day of Event Memberships

The half of any day of event memberships that does not go to the club will go towards something yet to be determined for Dave Reed. Some of you may know him he is one of the top local masters runners. Tragically he developed a serious infection likely originating in his heart and suffered multiple strokes and some heart damage. He was in a coma for possibly a couple of days before his sister found him on his apartment floor. When I arrived back from a gig in Fernie with Santa Lucia this week my email inbox was flooded with news about the tragedy. Today there was some great news and he has come to. Likely my road running club VFAC will purchase a gift basket or something along those lines so I will most likely put it towards that, so if you have any friends who are not Club Fat Ass who are hesistant to drop $20 on a race with no markings or aid, let them know that at least all of their money is going keep our great club going and the rest to help Dave out with some 'aid' in a much tougher battle than any race you could run.

Sorry to hear the sad news

Sorry to hear the sad news about Dave Reed.  I hope he will be ok and fully recover.

CFA will donate the CFA portion of any Single Day Memberships towards your donation, Ryan.  In other words, all fees collected through Single Day memberships for the Mutha's Nature Trail run will go towards a donation for Dave Reed.

We shall miss your run as we'll be out of town, sounds like an interesting course.

Slight course revisions

After a run on the course recently I decided to make some slight changes to the course for all distances. It only affects a short section where there was a really steep little hill I changed to go down the hill twice instead of up the hill as it is a lot tougher to get up and I find getting dwon no problem. Maps should be up soon but they are just to give an approximate idea of the course and are not yet accurate enough to use on their own. Please don't let the descriptions of back alleys and sidewalks scare you, the longest stretch of back alley is 4-5 small blocks and there are only 2, and there is one stretch of 3-4 blocks on the sidewalk. There are some fenced in refineries that appear to have high security that cut off the trails for a couple sections forcing us to go around. If anyone wants to make this a 'Capilano Commando' mission you could try to find the secret ways through the refineries - I'll awards bonus points if you can find a way to cut off the stretch along Hastings. Unfortunately I won't bail you out of jail if the big oil security gets you though! Sounds like the weather might hold out for us, keeping my fingers crossed on that.
