FLASH - Can I Run Sunshine in Sept. Without Getting Off-Course

1 Aug 2010 10:30
Location:
Langdale Ferry Terminal - Sunshine Coast, BC

Prerunning the Sunshine in September course (yet again!) to make sure directions are correct and that I can manage the entire distance. Anyone want to join us?

If you've been watching the event calendar, you likely know that the Sunshine In September event is scheduled for the first weekend in September. You may have also noticed that we held a Flash recon run of the course to fine-tune directions back in June. But, since I have yet to stay on course or finish the entire distance, I feel the need to try this one more time before the official event.

So, this Sunday (August 1st), at approximately 10:30am, David and I will set out once again from Langdale to pre-run the Sunshine in September course. This is an out and back run with the long course being 26k. Mostly mountain bike trail, although it does start off with an entirely unenjoyable uphill highway stretch.

If you would like to join us, I need you to RSVP! Send me an email by clicking on my name (jmont) in the header to this message. If nobody confirms that they are coming out, Dave and I may pick another day or time to run this!

For anyone considering coming over from the mainland to run this on Sunday, the 9:40am ferry from Horseshoe Bay arrives at 10:20am. You can walk onto the ferry and leave your belongings in our car. I would guess fast runners or shorter distances could return on the 1:05pm ferry, with the 2:40 ferry serving longer/slower runners.

Entry: There is no fee and you don't need to be a member of Club Fat Ass to participate in a Flash event, however whining is not allowed. No registration is required but please indicate your participation via the comment form below. You are responsible for your own well being and safety and should be self sufficient.

Please read the Release of All Claims. By participating in this event you agree to the terms of the Release of All Claims.

Hope to see you there. Don't forget to RSVP if you are coming! Jackie

 Hahaha, Jackie!  We are

Hahaha, Jackie!  We are close on the course - the new canyon run (replacing the 3km highway stretch from the original course) is definitely a keeper.  Iffy part is finding the right connecting trail on the way back.  There are so many. Luckily, they all seem to end up at the same spot.

I won't make the recon run, but can recommend it to anybody who would like a beautiful run on different trails.

Also, I will be at the Sunshine in September Run, 4 September, and promise any slower runners that stay with me to keep them on course and get them back to the ferry ;-)
