It was a great day. Not short, but great. The runners and the crews were all amazing!

Great Day

Thanks Craig for this fun event. My run from the Cove to Cleveland Dam and back to the Cove finished at 2:30 pm so my time was 8 hrs 30 minutes for 50 km. Feeling surprisingly good. Went to the Whitecaps game tonight with my son and the Caps scored 3 in the second half to win 3-1 over the Portland Timbers. Great goal by Martin Nash. Big ups to all those who participated today, the crews and especially those who tackled the full distance.

relaxing at home after my first kneeknacker

thanks for those people who marked out the trail and kudos for you 2 craig for putting on such an event.

despite my late start on my run, i saw most folks along the way at some point. in fact, i'm sure that i saw a several of the runners twice. deja vous -- some of you were probably thinking didn't he pass 15 minutes ago. it was fun notwithstanding the endless snow slog at the top of cypress.

i was just glad to finish the race course. Mike Ward saved my effort by showing up in the nick of time at particularly frustrating moment.

good luck to those among intrepid 100km crowd!

back home safe and sound

Hi Craig . I made it to Cleveland dam in 3:19 and then back to my place in another 45 min . So total 25km 3:19 on the actual course and 33km in 4:05 . Also in keeping with my record, I picked up some trash. Thanks for putting on the event Des

I'm in to help anytime after 7:30 on Saturday

help

hey Ean, thanks for your offer. Please take note that Michael Wardas may need assistance with carrying his stuff depending on how things go. Ethelyn and Lucinda are going to help as well. Also, please bring the goodies that Sibylle had set aside for the event so you can hand them off to Ethelyn. That way I'll have them for the dinner on Sunday at Mosquito Creek Bar & Grill at 4:30 pm. Did everyone get that not so subtle reminder? I've got the awards all ready to go for those that finish ... time to go to bed and dream about running tomorrow ... Craig

Jackson's In for 1:35

Arrived at Cleveland Dam at 6:00, just in time to see Colin take his shirt off.  Not sure if you can call it crewing or pacing, but ran with Colin and Patricia between Cleveland Dam and Mosquito Creek.  Total time back to the car was 1:35... and first run in the last 2 months.  Maybe Knee Knacker isn't out of the question?

Neil and Michael were looking great as they chowed down in the Cleveland Dam parking lot.  Neil looked a bit pale, but I think it was the residue of his suntan oil, cause he looked strong.  Ditto for Wardas who had energy enough to spare to make out with Melissa before storming up Nancy Greene Way.  (Sorry I missed you, David.  Very kind to drop off 2 pizza pies for the runners and crew!)

Showed Neil's crew the way to Mountain Highway, then went over to the pipeline bridge and caught Colin taking his shirt off again.

Left your goodie bags with Cheryl, Craig, as I may try to escape to Blackcomb for the last day if turns this year. Otherwise, see you at the pub!

Crap!

Looks like I have pacers for the entire second half! Now, how am I supposed to drop out? Looks like I'm in for it now.

Getting a little nervous

Looking forward to tomorrow's run. My crewing/childcare plans have been modified so I'm changing my plan from running the first 50 km (Deep Cove to Nelson Canyon Park) to Deep Cove to Cleveland Dam and back to Deep Cove so I can finish a little quicker for my babysitter. See you all at 6 am.

Hey Monty, You are running

Hey Monty,
You are running from Deep Cove to Nelson Park and again to Deep Cove and then to Cleveland and back...Mybe I am still jetlagged...but you "ONLY" need to do ONE out and back.

Good luck to everybody tomorrow!

Crew help for the V100

Hi gang, It looks like I am free and clear to do the whole 100! It looked a little iffy with kid's activities but I am free till 6pm Sunday evening! Ethlynn has offered to co/crew me with Craig and Lucinda offered earlier as well. As they are crewing their 'men' I don't want to impose upon them should something go wrong with either myself or them on the trail. If there is anyone who is looking for someone to crew please let me know by replying to this post. Thanks! Cheers, Adventure Mike

crew transportation

Hey folks,

My friend doesn't own a car, but he'll be using mine for being crew. I would rather he not have to come with us to the start at 6am, and meet me instead at 1030-11 at Cleveland Dam so he can actually get some sleep. Is there anyone who can drop him in Deep Cove to pick up my car who will also be crewing or have another idea of how to share cars for crewing? I'll be in the back of the pack.

update: got a plan worked out..forget the above unless you want to join in. I'll have Bill and Gilles in my car to the start. If anyone else wants a ride that is in the downtown area so that their crew doesn't have to go to the start at 6am, I have some more room.

Cheers,

Jess

the trail is faster now ...

More BP Trail maintenance was done today so look out!  It's better and faster.  Safer and funner.  Not to worry, there's still lots of technical bits for you purists. This was done right above Prospect Road on the East side of Mosquito Creek by the Knee Knacker Trail Work Party.

More stairs!!

you guys must be going for some kind of twisted number of steps on one trail record.
colinfreeland's picture

We love our stairs.

West of Mosquito Creek stairs are ok no one bike on that side.  East of Mosquito Creek on frome trails are done by the bikers and everything roles.

Cheers Colin

I'm in for Something

I may be an injured old piece of shi%, but I hereby commit to doing something useful for the benefit of the participants, organizer and crew,  I'd sure like to run with someone for 1/4 to 1/2 the way, but if I can't, I will make sure there is warm pizza and cool Guiness for at least 25% of the field.

Crewing for the Vancouver 100

I have crewed for this race for a couple of years and have always had great fun doing it. If anyone wants tips or would like to coordinate things a bit, just let me know. It would also be nice to get a sense of what folks estimated times are as this could help with the crew planning.

Trail recon

way to go and get back on that horse Mike!

As for a recon, I'm planning to do some trail marking on Hollyburn on Sunday May 25. It will be during the Knee Knacker training run from Cleveland Dam to Cypress Bowl and back. All are welcome to join. I will do some marking at the top of the Hollyburn section so we can all find our way into and through the trees with ease. Other than that, I'm finding it hard to make definite plans to do any other marking before June 7. Besides that, the snow is still honkin' deep on Black Mtn.  Perhaps you would like to organize a little run for those interested in wandering around on Black Mtn. just like Rod and I did a couple of weekends ago.  Craig

OK let's get this party started!

OK so the Vancouver 100 kicked my ass in 2006, but now it's time to do it right. Looking forward to spending the day playing around in the North Shore Mountains. Sign me up! In lieu of all of the snow I think it woud be wise for us to do a 'reconnesaince' mission within the next few weeks to get our bearings. Hey Tim got that GPS charged up? Let's do this thing!! Cheers, Adventure Mike
