Craig and I were out for 3:23, and did a tad under 29km... or something like that. One of us might have taken a shortcut or two (hint: it wasn't me ;) ) It seems scotch the night before a long run might not be as much fun as beer right before and during. I'm wondering if my next run will be with an alcohol-free running partner!

Thanks for organizing, and for the Oreos! Get well soon, L & G!

a short cut???

Can you call it a short cut if you ended up running twice as far as you had originally planned? I would say I took a large number of long cuts rather. And when you throw in a serious round of Bagger Banqueting the night before that makes it all virtually double or triple the distance anyway. But I do have to admit that Heather finished faster and sooner than me as I "warmed down" the last kilometer or so on the seawall in West Vancouver.

Thanks Lucinda and Gilles (and Chulita) for the perfect weather and oreos. Considering I hardly ever run on hard surfaces this run was quite enjoyable with the nice city and park scenery and all that people watching.

In the end I will only claim to have done 27km in the same time it took Heather to do 29. And please put us both down for a garbage point ;) Congratulations to all the other runners and especially to the hungover ones.

I definitely think you call

I definitely think you call it a shortcut when you tell your running partner "OK,  you just stay on the Seawall and run around the point and I'm going to go across here and meet you on the other side." :p

On Track

Touched base with John Machray this afternoon and learned from him that Karl was on track for his 11 hour first loop.  My plan was to join him sometime in the afternoon for a three hour run, but alas, I wasn't feeling 100% (maybe too much Scotch from the Quaich at the Baggers Challenge last night) and postponed until later...

Later now... the belly is full, but I still don't feel like heading out for a 3h run.

Updates here on via email are appreciated, maybe I get my FA off the couch later in the night.

And they're off!!!!

The motley crew has begun the Seawall 100. 2 folks will attempt the elusive 100 and the rest will do custom distances. A few more plan to join later in the day.

We got them off to a good start and met them again at Coal Harbour with some cookies

Big THANKS to RED BULL who donated some beverages to keep them pumped.

Feel free to check out a few more pics at http://www.flickr.com/photos/gillesylucy/

First to finish!

His "custom" distance, that is.  I did 2:35.  Not quite sure how far that was?  Laurie, Tim and I ran the course together to the Lions Gate bridge, then I cut off and ran home.  'Helped make Vancouver a better place to live in by picking up some trash along the causeway.

Note to Gilles:  I asked the nice policeman how fast I was going when we ran through the speed trap.  Sorry to hear he gave you got a ticket!  Get well soon.

Gah!

For the record, I'm doing a "Custom" distance, NOT 50 miles. Oops!

if only...

i wasnt sick with this lovely flu strain floating around i would have been at this for sure.  its been a while since i dropped out of a 100 miler.  i miss that feeling ;)

Sorry to hear that you both

Sorry to hear that you both are sick.  I'll get in touch with Karl to see where he projects he'll be in the afternoon, say around 15:00h.  Hope you get better soon.

I think Ean is planning to be at the start...
