Marathon Shuffle

Here is one for next year!

Some of you might remember the "city boys" tackling the 180km Sunshine Coast Trail back in 2003 (the trail won) and again in 2004. I heard all the tales, saw all the photos, film trailers and met some of the Powell River crew. I have, however, not been beyond the second ferry on the Sunshine Coast in years.

Quarterly "Checkup"

OK, so it being May 1st I thought I'd do a quarterly update to see how my resolutions are coming along (yes, I realize I'm a month late, but hopefully no one is keeping track).

First off, I have to say that I missed the boat on the snowshoeing trip for early 2006 (there is no longer snow out East (that I"m willing to travel to anyways)) so will have to get my fatass in gear for late in the season. Stay tuned...

On-Track:

1/2 Monty preview run

The 1/2 Monty was good, thanks to my wing girls. Louise (and her dog) and Lindsay.

Biking to Asahikawa

A full Saturday free and word of a bike trail on an old railway bed sent me east on my standard-issue silver colored upright bike with the shopping basket on front. I headed east, paralleling a busy highway and found the trailhead 10km later.

From the Flatlands of Japan

Hello, All, from Fukagawa, Hokkaido, Japan,

I'm one month into my four month teaching exchange here in Fukagawa, heart of the rice paddy area of Hokkaido, the north island of Japan.

One of my goals while here is to recover some weekly mileage. With long-day schedules of work in the past months at home, and with short resolve, I let during-the-week runs slip and tried to keep up with longer pleasurable weekend trail mileage. My physio and chiropractor soon let me know that the weekend warrior thing is not a good idea. Who knew what didn't work for anyone else wouldn't work for me?

(No) Progress Report - April

Not sure where my running training is going this year. At this point it seems to be going no where fast...

March I was lying low because of an recurring Achilles injury. Luckily, the rest and no running regime helped and so far the Achilles tendon is pain free.

The big Hump take two...

Danimal e'd me Saturday asking if I wanted to join Aaron mellow and himself in yet another assault on Mt.Finlayson. You can guess my answer was pretty predictable! Sure think , count me in. The plan was for he and I to start at 8:00 from Ma Millers and hook up with m & Aa. @ 8:30 at the Goldstream Nature centre, this we did.

Sunday's Mount Finlayson Run

The running club that I am loosely affiliated to in Victoria had organised a mountain run this Sunday, wanting to run a little longer I decided to start from a different location and meet them on the top.
