Sunday's Mount Finlayson Run

The running club that I am loosely affiliated to in Victoria had organised a mountain run this Sunday, wanting to run a little longer I decided to start from a different location and meet them on the top. Louise was tailing me on the drive. all the way up Millstream Rd. I was miles away and daydreaming like heck... We got to the park entrance and Lo and Behold, the gates had just been opened (8:00),Mike Suminski, (another Ultra dude.)and his group were there doing the ridge.Their cars were outside. We rolled in to an empty lot. Running up the Fire Rd. out of the "Caleb Pike" lot it felt good already. Gentle hill, slight chill, and a yellow sunrise cresting the Rowntree connector to Finlayson Arm Rd. The back access to Finlayson means you drive around the back and meet the hill half way up. We booted it up the backside alright, Leaving Caleb Pike at 8:17, we crested Finlayson by 8:55 looked about for 6 minutes, then headed down. Just as the down stuff started to get a little hairy we saw the hounds cresting a crag. Java(D), Molly(D), Sandi, Pepsi(D) ,Lara, and Bob all appeared over the rock. (Dog) We were met earlier on by a young guy that we now were told was a new runner here from Burnaby for the TC10K, he likes Rd running.Mind you he was the guy who covered the distance quickest today... We all headed up for the last 8 minutes and Lara took some neat shots.(with her digi.) Share them pic's, I want to show my grandchildren someday!(new guy missed the photo op earlier, that quick!) We all ran down the trail to F.A.Rd. and right down, down ,down into the stream at the Goldstream lot. Gatorade and pit stop, then Louise he doggie and I ran back up the road to Rowntree, and the fire Rd. to the Cars. 2:22:00, Log 2 hours of mountain running! ILTS!
