Good Luck, Western States Runners!

Well, it's that time of the year again.  For those trained enough and lucky enough to have been selected by lottery to enter the Western States 100-mile Endurance Run, it's time to pack the drop bags and shuffle off to Lake Tahoe, California.  The buckle on the left is what I hope they all bring home with them along with the blisters, the bruises and the memories.

Here are the friends I'll be following (here's a list of all 445 registered runners):

96   - Gilles Barbeau
267 - Chad Hyson
341 - Andy Nicol
366 - Wade Repta
26   - Gary Robbins
412 - Jeff Trigg

I believe all of the above are fellow members of Club Fat Ass and all are from the Vancouver area.

Some other BC runners you might know and want to follow:

133 - Marie Boucher, Port Coquitlam
372 - Shirlee Ross. Kelowna
422 - Shawn Wallich, Kaleden

The race starts at 5:00 am on Saturday 27 June.  If it's like in previous years, you can follow the progress of a runner at the Western States 100 website

Good luck to all who toe the line!  ('Wish I was there to pace you, Wader!)

Always up for a get together:)

Hey guys, just caught up on this thread, thanks for the well wishes, too bad the heat nearly killed me out there:) I'd be up for a get together if it worked out for everyone else, just keep me in the loop!

10 Minutes before the Finish...

It looks like Gary Robbins and Jeff Trigg will take home silver buckles.  Chad will get a bronze buckle and Wader is close, but still not in.  Andy and Gilles will be bummed, but wiser for the experience.

I'd love to have a little party for all of the local boys so they can share their stories and photos.  Assuming they are all back next weekend and interested in talking about their adventures, anyone interested in coming?  Could do it in my living room or find a larger place if numbers warranted.  Good way to get psyched up for Knee Knacker for us mere mortals...

sounds good to me.

Wader Didn't Make It

Sad news from the WS100 site... Wade withdrew with 10 miles to go... same place brother Dom packed it in a few years ago.

Lookin' good you Fat Asses!

It's been a tremendously exciting day watching Gilles, Gary, Andy, Chad, Wade & Jeff take on the WS100 (even though the live webcast has been a bit unreliable).

Great job all of you. Stepping up to the start is a feat in an of itself.

You all make me proud to be a Fat Ass!

Holy Cow!

At Lyon Ridge, 10.5 miles into the race Gary Robbins is 3 minutes from the lead.

Go Gary Go! (and same to all of the Fat Asses)

Gary before the race

He was certainly loking great and very sociable, especially considering it was only 3:45am

A few Fat Asses

This is not a full representation of all the fat asses here in Squaw Valley getting ready to run Western States. In any case, it is a good representation of a few years of club fat ass shirts.

Don't forget to check the website for updates on the runners. The race starts at 5am and first updates should begin at 7am..
