British Columbia ultra milestones

NO LONGER UPDATED ON THIS PAGE. SEE: http://www.clubfatass.com/blog/david-crerar/british-columbia-ultra-and-trail-running-record-first-and-fastest

Now added to the The British Columbia Ultra and Trail Running Record: First and Fastest, an additional category of British Columbia ultra milestones, with a very cursory initial list of names.

Some of the names below no doubt are in a higher category.

Send in the names and months of your first and milestone-attaining races in each category. Nominate your modest friends!

Entirely honour system, but recommended criteria and definitions of ultra races (no counting training runs, private runs, flash events, non-race adventure runs, treadmill runs, imaginary runs, splitting a 100 miler into two ultras, pacing duties, almost-there DNFs, long bike rides, watching movies about ultras, etc.) can be found at: http://www.marathonmaniacs.com/faq_criteria.html

Others in the 100 Club

Not sure of any other BC folks that aren't listed but in terms of Canadians I believe the following have already recorded 100:

Esmond Mah, Rolly Portelance, Joe Cleary, Monica Scholz, Ron Gehl (likely has most of any CDN), Doug Barber

Some that may be over 100 but I don't know 100%:

Helen Malmberg, Greg Bohuslawsky, Gord England, Howard Parker, Gord Harthun, Jim Morrison, Wally Herman (not sure how many of his 700+ marathons have been via an ultra).

Ryne

PS. for the months of mine April 1995 and October 2005.

Canucks with 100 Ultras or More

Here's a list that I compiled last year.  I tried to contact everyone on the list to verify, but didn't get a response from all, so not convinced my list is complete.  Certainly a bit out of date.

Jackson's List

As of this writing, I am bang-on 100 ultras.  Here's my list.

Holy cow

the penny just dropped. Gilles did 20 100 milers in three years. W-O-W. That stands out as plain nuts, in a nutty community.

Stats

Howdy.

I'm sitting at 140 ultras after the Lake Youngs 50k this past weekend and it damned well better be 141 sometime on June 26th or early June 27th!

My 1st was the Make-A-Wish 25 hour (on a 235 meter indoor concrete track) in 1995.  100th was Run for the Toad 50k in 2005.

HOLY F*$(K

I'm not sure I've gone running 140 times, TOTAL. Good on you Rune!

The List

I was shocked and amazed when you named every ultra you'd done while we were driving down to Western States a couple years ago.  You really should write them down before your brain turns to putty.  Good luck next weekend, by the way.  May the force be with you.

Awesome! Thanks!

awesome! Thanks!

Do you know of any other British Columbians who should be on this list? Jackson said that you kept a list at your old website?
