Atta Go!

Great run, guys!  If that's Micelob you are drinking, I beg to differ with your claim.  Michelob is not a "brewski" according to Webster's Canadian dictionary... it is near beer.  Looks like you had fun, though.  Great photos!

Congratulations

Hey John and Gilles - congratulations to both of you; what an awesome accomplishment after doing Vancouver100; unbelievable!  I was thinking of both of you all weekend!  I am thinking of running Big Horn next year and hope you will both join me! Embarassed

Way to go!

Good job Gilles and John!

Gilles,

I know you own some fancy gaiters, so why were you playing hopscotch on the rocks? Mud is softer.
Hope the tibia is only bruised and not cracked.

Baldwin

May the rehydration continue!

Congratulations

Congratulations on finishing what sounds like a tough race!  Hope the girls finished their shopping ;-)

Well Done!!!

Congratulations to both of you.  Bighorn is not any easy race at the best of times.  Finishing with the added challenge of mud and water is quite an accomplishment.  Glad you continued after the tibia incident: "unless there's a bone sticking out you're not allowed to quit".  I'm sorry I missed the fun.
Looking forward to getting together for an in-person report and to help you "rehydrate".

Race Results

Well, we finished. Like reported by mudrunner the trails were in awfull condition. Water and mud everywhere due to recent record rainfall and where the mud was dry it was like concrete. So our feet are a mess on the other hand vegetation was lush green all over with millions of wild flowers. Prettttttyy.

Now the results. John had a strong start but eventually like most everybody else the trail took it's toll but he managed a respectable 32:25. As for myself I had a difficult day from the start, it got better during the evening until I bashed my tibia jumping from one slipery rock to another trying to keep my feet dry, I thought my race was over but after a few minutes things were back in order. For the most part anyway but it took the edge out and eventually the best I could hope for is a fnished under the cut off time of 34 hrs. Well I got in 33:49. Chasing cut off time from one station to another is not much fun but nevertheless the Big Horn 100 miler is an exceptional race; Awsome sceneries and impecable organisation.

So tomorrow morning will go get our buckles at the pancake breakfast and for now I'm eager to get in the horizonta position. That's all folks, I hope you enjoyed.

Good luck at BIG HORN!

It's good that you're doing this race because you two have been taking it waaaaaay too easy this year in your race schedule. You haven't done a 100K for, what, three weeks?

What's the poop!?

I hear that it's rather muddy & the footing is pretty tough...any news?

Hope things are going well John & Gilles!! I'm guzzling a cold one thinking of you guys.

Hang in there guys

Got to love those late morning starts! I bet this picture was taken at breakfest.  wish I could be there. Hope you didn't leave any money in your wallets ; )  cause it sounds like it's gone now.

They're off....

Gilles and John started at 11am sharp. The weather was was nice and sunny, not too hot but not cold either. The skies did look a bit menacing, but they held off for the day. Or at least to my knowledge it did not rain. There are not too many places to go check out the boys so Linda and I went to check out some great quilt shops in Clearmont and Buffalo. Then, back to Sheridan to visit the knitting store. Gosh, its great to  shop while themen are running. And let me tell you we have alot of time on our hands.
Good news, they have been running for 9 and a half hours and no phone calls. It looks like they will be in it for the long haul which will leave Linda and I some more shopping time. Woohoo!!
More pics can be found here  http://www.flickr.com/photos/gillesylucy/sets/72157600369172752/

They are mostly from the start, race briefing and scenery.
Enjoy
