Enough is enough

A few month ago I happily blogged about running in the rain...How I loved it! Forget it. Don't hold me to it - enough is enough. Out of the last 44 days it rained 42 of them - hard!

My motivation is definitely fading. Last weeks training consisted of 2 half hearted weight sessions at home, one mid-week run, 2 hours of downhill skiing with my children, 2 hours of snowshoe hiking on Grouse and one guilt induced hour at the gym.

How is the rest of rain soaked Vancouver doing? What about the snow and ice in the rest of the country? How are the New Year's Resolutions coming along? Why don't you take a moment and fill us in on your training and how you deal with the weather. What the heck, if you live somewhere warm and dry you can share that too - rub it in!

Snow you say!

I wish! Trying desperately to train for the Canadian Ski-Marathon (www.csm-mcs.com) and it just ain't happening due to a lack of the white stuff. January & February are supposed to be the coldest months yet the continued forecast for this February 4th weekend is plus 6 degrees C. and rain. If this global warming keeps up, I won't have to move west the Vancouver weather.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to run again with Danièle as I coach her to her first marathon (Ottawa in May). That's a good thing.

Nice to hear from you

Hi Peter,

Nice to hear from you.  Hey at least you are not shoveling the white stuff ;-)  We have tons of snow in the mountains.  I think Whistler had record snowfalls for January.  Even on our local mountains there's 3 meters of the fluffy flakes.  All coming down as rain in the city, though.

On the positive side, yesterday morning the sun was out and I managed to coordinate the break in the weather with a glorious 60min run.  And the forecast for Sunday is for a dry spell that's supposed to last more than 60min - figure that.

Have a good one.
