2nd Annual Run To The Clouds This Coming Weekend!

Run To The Clouds - Pre Run

For anyone interested in a fun 25 km trail run (options of 9 km, 12 km as
well) take the time to sign up now and come have some fun this coming
Sunday!

As the run organizer I have to say everything seems to be coming together.
Over 30 liters of drinking water has been hoofed in and stashed at the 2
remote aid stations, and before the week is out there will be additional
volumes of Gatorade and other treats taken in and stashed ready and waiting
for you CFA runners entering the event this weekend. The trails are in
fantastic shape and it is not too hot yet.

The runners entered in this event will cruise by 3 supported "aid stations"
on route that will have liquid and other "treats" to keep you all happy.
There is also volunteer First Aiders that will be cruising around the course
on mountain bikes (and in radio contact with the aid stations) for extra
security and peace of mind of all runners entered.

Also, for those of you that have signed up for the event, the good news is
that BC Hydro has now cleared all the downfallen trees that had closed and
blocked the Lakeside Trail between the start and the floating bridge near
the south end of the lake. This section is now open and in great shape! If
you check route instructions at #6 / 1 km mark you can now stay right on
Lake View Trail" right to the bridge. It doesn't really affect the mileage
that much but is easier and clearer for you all to follow. Same with "coming
home"... After crossing the floating bridge at point #63 / 23.6 km mark, you
can simply stay left-left-left along the same route (Lake View Trail, then
Energy Trail) back to the finish line. Easy and cool route.

So, if you are thinking of giving this event a try, DO IT. It promises to be
a fun one. This area is a hidden gem in the lower mainland area, and if I
can get you out there to run once, I guarantee you WILL come back to run
there again (note: Fluffy Bunny event on August 4th is another local CFA run
you can enjoy here).

Get their early, Buntzen Lake Recreation Area is busy on a sunny weekend.
The parking lot was about half fun even on a cloudy holiday Monday
(yesterday). Remember, when you get there, walk from any of the 3 big
parking lots directly North toward the beach then go left to the one big
Gazebo. This is where we will be setting up the registration area. Please
come directly there to check in and say HI.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Pete SS (fellow Club Fat Ass runner).

Ps  I am also working on arranging some good weather for you all.
