Carpool from Vancouver

I am planning on driving to this event, have room for 3 others. Will do 30min of shopping on the way back (just so ya know)... Reply if you want to join the happy bus leaving from downtown Vancouver at 0630.

might be guy, singular, on the happy bus.  no takers thus far.

v6 honda accord, smooth climate-controlled ride, music, witty banter (not guaranteed!)...  what a deal!

Getting to B'ham...

I second Katie's idea that you can come down for the weekend on the ferry and stay here at my place also (lot's of room). Or, you can walk across and either Brent or I can pick you up at one of the border crossings Friday night or Saturday morning. Just let me know!

oh poor you!!!

hey reagan, you should take up the offer to get picked up @ the border - it's gonna be NUTS this weekend 'cause of Victoria Day and our strong $... if it's just you, you can just walk across (although i suppose that might put a damper in your shopping plans...). just wouldn't want you to get stuck & miss the run!!! :(

or come over here early tomorrow AM & take the ferry with me!! although it does take a bunch of extra time (ferry over on friday afternoon, ferry back on sunday morning) - but what a fun weekend we'll have drinking beer in bellingham!! oh yeah i guess we'll do a run as well somewhere in there...

hopefully i'll see you there!

Anybody wanna bike / run across the border on Friday for this?

Hi peoples, I'm wondering if anyone is interested in avoiding border lineups by riding bikes to Bellingham for the Calf Cramper? Maybe we could work something out with the organizers (eg. get a van with bike racks to pick us up in Blaine?).

They might have changed this but in my experience on a bike you can just ride past everyone in the lineup and go through...

Or we could get a ride to the border and run across!!! That would be even better, really...

lemme know

Even better: bus to border, run across, get picked up!

Ok, so this depends on organizers' ability to help us out with this, but I just looked it up: you can bus to White Rock, then the run across the border to Blaine is about 3km. Hopefully somebody could pick us up on the other side. HOW FUN WOULD IT BE to run past all those people in their cars at the border heading down to buy "bargains" (= crap...) on the May long weekend?! That's so up my alley :)

[and of course, I'm writing this from Boston, where I'm sure I'll be buying my share of crap during my 2 weeks here!!! oh, self-righteousness...!]

take care folks,

k

Transportation across the border...

Hi Katie,

I got your email, and I think this is a great idea. I could either plan to pick folks up at the Anacortes ferry terminal, or else at the Blaine border crossing. My boyfriend, Brent, is available also, so we could possibly send a car to each of these places Friday late afternoon or early evening. We have plenty of room for people to stay at our house, and I'm happy to host people for Friday night and Saturday too if you like.

If anyone else is interested in these options, please post here, and we'll get the details worked out.

Cool!

Hi Genissa, thanks. I'm not sure yet where I'll be coming from (Victoria or Vancouver), but getting a ride from Anacortes makes me interested in leaning that direction. I'll keep you posted!! Thanks,

Katie
