Runners Knee - Patello-Femoral Syndrome (PFS)

Runners Knee - Patella femoral Syndrome

Fat-Assed Pow Day

If you're into sliding sports, now is a good time to get out on the slopes. It has been puking in the mountains for days... and it looks like there's more snow on the way! I was up at Whistler with some buddies the other day and was treated to some of the best deep, dry powder I have ever had the pleasure of wollowing in.

Bonus Run - The Dirty Duo

If it isn't one injury, it's another. First, plantar fasciitis (where the meat on the bottom of your foot comes off the bone) then patella-femoral syndrome (a knee that clicks and pops and hurts whether you run on it or not.) Both are nasties that take a long time to heal...and as soon as I figured I'd licked the former, I get the latter.

Squamish Scrambler - View from the Back of the Pack

What an adventure!

Given that Vancouver had experienced 26 consecutive days of rain, I wasn't quite sure what to wear when I got up in the dark this past Sunday morning. I could see the stars as I packed snowshoes into the car. The city forecast was for intermittent sun and clouds. By the time we reached the mining museum at Britannia Beach, however, it was pouring rain... and I forgot to pack a poncho. Dho! For the next 20 minutes as we approached the Brennan Rec Centre in Squamish, I conjured up excuses for how to avoid snowshoeing in the rain while not loosing Club Points for being a no-show!

This whole thing about New Years resolutions is starting to cause me stress. Now that I've made a public comittment, I now have to make sure I achieve my goals. 'Got to fill out some applications. 'Got to come up with some cash. 'Got to get on the program and start training!

How to Fix Your Snowshoes So They Kick Ass

This is how you fasten and old pair of running shoes to your snowshoes.  If you do this, your snowshoes will never come off during a race!

Ean Jackson's 2006 Fitness Resolutions

This is bizarre for a last-minute, non-committal kind of guy to actually plan out a year in advance! Here goes:

Running events:

Lunch Hour Snowshoe Running

Dom Repta, Denis Fontaine and me on top of Dog Mountain on our lunch hour yesterday. This is why I live in Vancouver!

Backcountry Snowshoe Running Adventure

This is me in my snowshoes with my beloved banana tree on the first weekend of December. As you can see, banana trees don't like snow and we had a fair bit of it in Vancouver this week.

Duct Tape: The Trail Runner's Best Friend

I was just reading Geoff’s comment in Sibylle Tinsel’s popular blog discussion about running in the rain. To summarize, Geoff doesn’t like to run in the rain because he ends up with bloody nipples. Sibylle, in turn calls him a wuss and suggests he use Band-Aids.
