Juan de Fuca Trail Run

16 Sep 2006 07:30

Flash event: A loosely-organized, one-time group run This is a 48km trail run on the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail (JDF Trail).

The JDF trail is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island and stretches between Botanical Beach near Port Renfrew in the west to China Beach near Jordan River in the east. The start is about an hour from downtown Victoria, British Columbia. If you are able to run 47km on rocky rooty trails, are not afraid of suspension bridges and exposed rocky outcrops, are self sufficient and can keep the group of runners entertained with stories for 6 to 10 hours, please express your interest with a comment below.

This weekend Des, Chris and Tim are attempting the run (weather permitting) south to north.  They are taking the 2pm ferry over to the island on Friday.  The plan is to camp at the China Beach trail head and start running towards Port Renfrew at around 7:30 or so.  With a planned finishing time of 8 to 9 hours if things go well.

You don't need to be a Club Fat Ass member to join Des, Chris and Tim on this run, but don't expect any babysitting and be completely self sufficent!  To find out more about the trail and how to plan for this run click here. To express your interest and find out specifics please contact Des here.
