Welcome to 2010

Welcome to 2010 everyone.  Every year New Years day means one thing for me - Test of Metal registration.  Sign in late and you will miss out.  This year The Test sold out in 24 minutes and I was lucky enough to register for my 5th year in a row.  Last year I was able to beat my previous personal best by over 30 minutes and finished in 3:28 - that is a high bar for me to beat this year.

I hope everyone gets to participate in the events that they would like to, no matter how big or small.

Running sick?

I'm very glad I ran in the New Years Day Fat Ass 50 and Freeze Your Fat Ass Off Swim (minus the swim as usual). I'm also glad that I didn't get really sick from doing it. It's been a long standing question of mine whether you should run when you're sick or stay at home and hide under the covers. Having had my heart set for a long time on a great start to the new year I decided to brave the elements.

Healthy Eating Workshop

Happy New Year!  I hope you had an enjoyable Christmas holidays like I did.  I took some much needed R & R and let myself indulge in some sweets, drinks and overeating a litte.  I still managed to get my workouts in and am on track with my marathon training, which I'm really enjoying.

The next area I'm going to focus on is getting my nutrition back on track.  Sure I had fun on the holidays but I could feel a difference in my energy and body with the added sugar, alcohol and not being as diligant with getting my veggies in.

Happy Holidays and Have Healthy New Year!

I wanted to wish you a happy holiday season and all the best in the New Year.  As my final post for 2009, here's a quick tip for improving your fitness and health in 2010.

Every New Year's day millions of people make resolutions to get into "better shape" but over 90% abandon their resolutions by the end of January.  My best tip to avoid this trap is to think about your fitness goals TODAY!  Pick one or two major goals and then devise a plan to achieve them.  It's a cliche but there's plenty of truth in the statement that

Orcas Island Ultra, and E/B

Just a quick note to you Vancouverites,

Who of yous is doing the Orcas Island 50K?

I Desperately need to know.

I have only two wheeled transportation, (or two legged.)

I know that there are a whole bunch of Prarie Inn Harriers going , but I am more reluctant to ask for support from them as they have a "on again, off again." approach to runners from the "Dark Side".

Just trying to expand my options....

On the other front.

Who else, other than me, wants to run the E/B 50K this coming May?

Retiring from Running

Yes, the rumors are true.

Leftover Baggage

As the sun sets on the 2009 Baggers Challenge, I have come to the sad conclusion that I should have quit my job if I were serious about bagging them all.

Yes, at one time I thought it might be possible to bag them all in one season.  It is.  But you have to get on it early and get those high bad boys while the sun shines and the days are long.

Seven Days of Baggery Makes One Weak

I think I have Bagger's Fever.  The symptoms have been particularly acute this past week:
