Man Found Unconscious After Night Run

Last night was the 9th annual MardiGras version of the Club Fat Ass Capilano Canyon Night Run. This run takes about 90 minutes and is a great way for trail and road runners to get a feel for what it's like to run in the night. It's a very low-key event: Nobody really cares how far or fast participants run. There are 12 and 17-kilometer run courses, but there's also a "roll-your-own" distance for those who want to run farther, shorter or to accommodate those who get lost.

The Scrambler 2011

The Squamish Scrambler has got to be my  favorite winter running event.  Held every February in the mountains above Squamish, BC, it's a magical half-marathon on snowshoes.

January 2011 - Foolish Gerbil 100K Trail Run

Only four fools toed the start line at 6 AM.  Perhaps it was the inclement weather or that a few too many drams were consumed on Saturday night or perhaps some people simply decided to get off the wheel.  Other than the charming company and witty conversation they didn't miss much.  It was wet and cold.  It may be time for a change of scenery.

2011 January - Foolish Gerbil 80K Trail Run Report

Not as large a crowd as the previous Foolish Gerbil run.  Can't imagine why...the temperature was relatively warm and no ice in sight.
Only two takers for the 80 K challenge.   Congratulations to both.

2011 January - Foolish Gerbil 50K Trail Run Report

It was a perfect day weather-wise for a run, except that it was just cold enough to create a bit of black ice on the pavement leaving the start area.  The two Fools at the front went down almost simultaneously, followed immediately by a number of other people.  The first Fool landed flat on his back, his head hitting the pavement with the sound of "a pumpkin smashing" as someone commented.  Wonder what was meant by that?  The second Fool
