STORMY: want to be on a relay team!? We could put together a few & have a super-awesome CFA presence!!!

Hi CFAers,

Anyone interested in being part of a STORMY team? In case you're unfamiliar with STORMY: it's the Squamish Test Of Running Metal, YEAH! which somewhat follows the course of the longstanding Squamish Test of Metal mountain-bike race. STORMY is a 50-mile course with options to run 100 miles solo, 50 miles solo, or 50 miles as a relay with 7 segments, with 2 to 7 participants. I'd love to put together some teams of CFA folks - depending who's interested, we can have teams that want to go fast, or be goofy, or whatever!

The shortest relay leg is (I think) 7km and the longest is 22km. I've done it twice with different numbers of people - if people like to run about 20kms, it works well to have 4-5 people. The 7km leg makes a great intro for newish trail runners - while still being part of a LONG race! And part of the fun is that it takes *almost* as long for the rest of the team (in a car) to get to the next relay point - so you're kind of racing your own runner! There's a pool & hot tub at the finish line, & a BBQ afterwards.

The relay starts at 6am on Saturday, August 8th (so staying over in Squamish the night before is a good idea - there is a campsite right next to where the run starts, or some of us have friends in Squamish...!). Informal night-before-race fun usually takes place at the Howe Sound Brewpub in Squamish (yummy yam fries for carb-loading, if that's your thing... oh and pretty good beer too! Not that I'm a big beer drinker or anything - where would you get THAT idea?). There's time to drive back to Vancouver in the evening after the race - most teams finish around 2-4pm, stick around for the BBQ and then head home.

So, if you're interested, drop me a line! My email address is: my CFA username (all one word) AT telus dot net

More info is here: http://stormytrailrace.ca/

[oh yeah: this one has an entry fee, it's not a CFA event]

Maybe I'll see you there?!

Can those who've expressed interest please email me to confirm!?

Hi all!

Can anyone who said "yes I'd like to do this!" please email me to confirm for sure? I'd like to register our team Wed night (evening of July 14th) to save some $.

Claudia & Eric have said yes - I tried to email you both but I'm not sure I have correct addresses! Please email me at teagirl @ [insert-name-of-large-BC-telecom-company-beginning-with-letter-T-here].net

To register, I need your:

Full Name, Date of Birth, Address incl Postal Code, t-shirt size, any pertinent medical info incl medications / allergies. I also need to know what distance you'd prefer to run and what minimum distance you'd be happy with! Legs are 7km - 12km with one leg of 22km, a few people will be running more than one leg so your total distance might be split.

Registration will be $40 - $50 depending how many confirmations I get, we will also split gas & camping fees when the time comes (probably another $20 - 30, possibly a bit more). It will be lots of fun, I promise! :)

Please email me ASAP to confirm.

Thanks!
Katie

Did you already find other elay runners? I would be interested?

Hi Katie,

Let me know if you still have a spot in your team and we could run Stormy.

Cheers!
