As always, this years event will take place during the weekend closest to the first Full moon of August, which happens to be the weekend of August 17th & 18th, so come join us for an epic adventure.
This year, the race will take place in the Pasayten Wilderness of the Central Cascades, following the northernmost section of the Pacific Crest Trail. Starting in Manning Park, the course will run over 112km to Rainy Pass on Hwy 20 in Washington, crossing 3 high mountain passes along the way.
It will feature incredible scenery, amazing alpine terrain, beautiful singletrack, and vast wilderness.
Race Format:
The racers will travel in a "peleton" format and "racing" will be decided on the following criteria, with 2 small prizes up for grabs.
- Sprint Finish Winner: The final 12km will be a "sprint" finish. Placement in the race will be determined here. The sprint starts at Granite Pass. This final section is almost entirely downhill, and it will be a very fast finish.
- King of the Mountains: There will be 4 major mountain passes on the route as part of the over 3200m of vertical to be climbed. Points (5, 3, 1 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd respectively) will be awarded for the first 3 at each of the following:
PCT campsite near Windy Joe (~6 km, 1550m)
Peak 7126 - above Devils Stairway (~27km, 2200m)
col NE of Tamarack Peak (~60km, 2100m)
Methow Pass (~95km, 2000m)
Location: Manning Park (BC) to Rainy Pass - Highway 20 (WA)

NEXT YEAR - We cross the great Cascadian "middle" border. The dwindling border patrol of the "resistance" will not stand in our way this year. AKA, we're going to run in the North Cascades on August 9th & 10th.

Just so you know, for future reference, it is actually illegal to cross the border southbound from Manning Park. If you want to do the Rainy Pass - Manning Park section of the PCT, you can only do it legally from south to north.

So... much like the movie referenced above, Team America is defending their territory with hefty fines and jail time for crossing into their country at a non-manned crossing.

Since I have no desire to be arrested by America's finest and banished for eternity to their equally paranoid friends in the DPRK, we're going to REVERSE THE DIRECTION of this race.
That's right. South to North.
This makes logistics more difficult on my end, but it can be done! I'll update this page soon.
That means we'll be finishing at the same place as our friends doing the Fat Dog, so we'll have to be courteous of their finish & celebrations.
