Flash - Seymour Sunrise Snowshoe Sleepover

19 Jan 2008 14:00

What:

This is really 3 events in one:

  • a snowshoe hike to Dog Mountain at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon
  • an opportunity to do a night of relatively easy winter camping
  • a snowshoe hike from Dog Mountain at around 10:00 on Sunday morning

I had tentatively planned an early morning snowhoe hike up Dog Mountain for the sunrise on Sunday. On second thought, why not camp out and sleep in?

We'll be leaving the parking lot at Seymour Mtn at 14:00h on Saturday. The hike to the sleep over patch will take about 1 hour and is not technical.

Who: Anybody interested in a different kind of sleepover. This is family friendly, but some camping/hiking experience is recommended.

What to bring: snowshoes (you might get away without them right now as the path is packed down and well traveled), camping gear, shovel, backcountry gear, dinner, breakfast, snacks, stove, sleeping bags, mats, headlamps, dry and warm gear, etc.

Anybody interesting in coming out just for the sunrise is of course welcome to join us for breakfast. Sunrise is around 8:00am.

Please comment below if you are interested and we can firm up details. Please do not just show-up without touching base with me, as times might change.

There is no fee and you don't need to be a member of Club Fat Ass to participate in a Flash event, however whining is not allowed. Looks like we are having

Looks like we are having some takers for the afternoon hike in and back and possibly another couple that is organized enough, ahem, to throw their camping gear in the truck for a last minute overnighter...Looking forward to freezing my rear off at night ;-)  Hopefully the weather will clear up enough to get a glimpse of the sun rise...
