FAQ

Q: I've never done a trail run before. Is this a good place to start?
A: It's a perfect place to start! The trail is beautiful and tame and it's a group run, so you won't get lost or dropped.

Q: I am a crazy Ultra Runner and 10km is just not far enough for me?
A: No problem, come out early, say 5pm and log some extra miles before the run starts.

Q: How long should the run take?
A: It is a group run so it is hard to say exactly depending upon the pace, but likely between 50 minutes and 70 minutes.

Q: Do I need to print off course instructions and bring them with me?
A: If you are planning to walk or run very slowly you might want to bring the instructions along, otherwise we have two pace groups.

Q: What if I get lost?
A: You shouldn't get lost!

Q: What if I have to heed the call of nature?
A: There is a washroom at the start/finish and a public outhouse near the dam at the Lynn Headwaters park office.

Q: Do I need to bring food and drink to the post run party?
A: Yes, unless you don't plan on being hungry or thirsty? For those of you who forget, there is a convenience store located about 400meters from Doug's home.

Q: What else should bring on run day?
A: Please check the agenda for thoughts.

Q: I am supposed to be self-sufficient because there is no aid provided. Can I get a friend to come out and give me food and drink along the route?
A: Absolutely! In fact, it would be nice if your friend were to help everyone. See aid stations and crew for some thoughts on what they might be able to do.

Q: Where can I park? Where can I change?
A: There is street parking on Underwood and the neighboring residential streets. Best to come ready to run as it could be crowded in Doug's bathroom. Don't count on a hot shower at the finish.

Q: I am signing up for this event to support Mary's Bursary Fund, how much of my Single Day Membership online fee is going to Mary's Fund?
A: Club Fat Ass and the Event Host, who normally each take a share to cover their expenses, have generously agreed to donate all the money collected to Mary's Bursary Fund.  There is a small transaction fee collected by EventsOnline for online transactions that is not going to the fund.

Q: Why does Club Fat Ass not also donate the annual membership fees to Mary's Fund?
A: Annual members have access to all Club Fat Ass events throughout the calendar year. The annual fees are there to cover the cost of the club shirt and the club's infra structure like website and online registration.

Q: Can I pay cash at the event?
A: We prefer you pay your Day-Of-Event fee and register online for several reasons. It's less hassle just before the run. We will have your registration information on hand to send last minute updates if necessary and follow-up after the event. If you don't sign up online, your registration will have to be typed in manually. If you are already an annual member of Club Fat Ass, we ask you to sign up for the event online for free and suggest a donation into a bowl at Doug's place.

Q: I am still confused about the sign-up procedure...
A: Basically, you have to be a Club Fat Ass member to participate in any of the Club events. There are two membership options, annual and day-of-event and registration for both is online. Once you are a member you can sign up for free for any of the Club Fat Ass events. You will need to sign up for each event online. This is necessary to let the event host know how many participants to expect and to be able to send out last minute updates/changes. There is no cost to register for an event.
