XS-NRG screening Saturday 2 pm matinee, Marathon Shuffle Sunday

Please consider making time for a unique experience, a 2:00 pm matinee at the Patricia Theatre next Saturday, April 24 for the World Premiere of the extreme-adventure documentary XS-NRG (pronounce Excess Energy), starring remote sections of breathtaking Powell River backcountry via the Sunshine Coast Trail - as well as four lads from the lower mainland.

Six years in the making this documentary was shot in 2004 when a team of four members of the Club Fat Ass came to Powell River to attempt to bag the 180-km-long Sunshine Coast Trail running non-stop, the equivalent of four marathons in a row. This feat would require relentlessly moving for two days and two nights.

Did the trail whoop the slickers from the city? Did they boys triumph over the mother of all coastal trails? From the comfort of your theatre seat experience parts of the Sunshine Coast Trail not seen by many and witness the unfolding drama of a run that has become legendary in ultra-marathon circles.

After the screening there will be a meet the film-maker Angus Mclellan for a social. Talk to the stars of the of this ultra marathon, amazing athletes who have competed all around the continent and the globe in their enduro adventures. See a Powell River which you may not yet be familiar with. Get pumped for the Shuffle on the following morning.

Tickets are available now at Breakwater Books at $15, and $17 at the door.  Proceeds going to PRPAWS will be shared with the BOMB Squad for trail maintenance and enhancement.

We thank Angus for honoring Powell River by showing the world premiere right here in Powell River where the run took place and the film was shot. It's of course the very first screening, and Vancouver will have to wait till the following weekend when the film will be shown at the HR MacMillan Spacecentre (also known as the planetarium).

Prizes to be won.
