2012 Sunshine in September is CANCELLED

Please be aware that the 2012 Sunshine in September has been cancelled due to low registration and injuries. Thank you. Happy Holiday Weekend! Jackie

Jackie's resolutions 2012

Alas, both Jackie Muir and I are both "Jackie M.", so for those who don't know me, I am NOT Jackie Muir, and she has NOT drastically simplified her running goals for 2012. My (modest) resolutions for 2012 are: - participate in at least six CFA events - actually host Sunshine in September in SEPTEMBER! - run at least three >21k races/events this year - run my first 50k event - log > 1,200 km over the year That's it...Jackie (Montgomery)

Sunshine in September 2011 POSTPONED

Good afternoon, I'm sorry to announce that due to family commitments, I need to postpone Sunshine in September this weekend. I am hoping to find another weekend that we can run this great course before winter comes and will keep you posted.

My apologies for any inconvenience caused. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

Jackie

Hmmm, it's nearing Sunshine in September...

... and I have yet to be able to run the course without getting lost. Oh well, I'm convinced that a) You are all better at following course descriptions than I am and b) you'll all find your way back. I have each time...

Event pages have been updated for 2010 Sunshine in September. The course description will be further updated over the coming weeks (once I figure out my chicken scratches written out when I was thoroughly the lost last time I tried the course. The sweat and tears of frustration made the ink run a little bit...)

Sunshine in September Recon Run - Event Report

Who could not want to run on such a perfect day? 11 of us started out from Langdale Ferry Terminal this morning to run the Sunshine in September course and attempt to finetune the course description. With three of us from Vancouver and the other 8 from Sunshine Coast Athletics, we had a good group out to run and all of the Sunshine Coast runners were able to run customized distances. Some lucky folk even ran home.

Review of Nathan Intensity (women's) hydration vest

I was very pleasantly surprised last week to find out that Dave and Jess had been plotting behind my back about an early birthday present.

More details for Flash: Sunshine in September recon run

Checkout the Sunshine in September event page for more details on next weekend's run. Let's plan to catch the 7:20 ferry from Horseshoe Bay. Gets us to Langdale at 8am. Those of us finetuning the directions will probably take about 5 hrs if yesterday was any indication. This sends us back on the 2:30 sailing from Langdale.

Escape to Egmont - event report

Updated (attempted!) with GPX file. Thanks Greg!

With a brief break that allowed us some nice weather, we ran the first Escape to Egmont yesterday. With nine starters, we had fair representation of the communities of the sunshine coast. Powell River, Sechelt and Earls Cove runners made the trip to the Earls Cove ferry terminal for the 8:30am start.

Recipe: Energy Bars

I think I shall use my blog to collect and share my recipes. I'll likely have better luck finding them in future than trying to sort through my recipe box. These are some protein bars that I've been enjoying. They are no-bake and chewy, but you'll want to wrap them in layers so you don't end up with one big blob.

Original recipe came from recipezaar ("Low-Fat Fitness Energy Bars" Recipe #3710) but i have modified the recipe to my preferences (and I refuse to buy protein powder).
