Running the Wonderland Trail around Mt Rainier

For those who have run the Grand Canyon, West Coast Trail, and TransZion run, and are looking for the next epic trail running adventure, the 93-odd-mile Wonderland Trail around majestic Mt Rainier is a must-do stunner.

MT. ELPHINSTONE HIKING TRAILS

For baggers keen to explore other nearby trails, Dick Culbert has sent in this very cool trail development on the Sunshine Coast:

MT. ELPHINSTONE HIKING TRAILS

A well marked trail system trail system has now been established from the Langdale Ferry Terminal on the Sunshine Coast to the summit of Mt. Elphinstone.

Bagger Challenge opens today

Bagger Challenge is now generally open. All peaks on the list are open for baggage points.

Persevere. Bag. Jubilate.

Still snow on many peaks: be careful out there! Bring proper equipment. Always bag with a buddy.

We'll go no more a-baggin'

Fittingly, the first snow falls on our glowing pulchritudinous peaks as the Bagger Challenge draws to a close, ending this afternoon at 6:30 pm.

Please check your peak tallies carefully, and send me any of your last-minute conquests tonight. Load those photos up to the CFA flickr account!

Bowen #2 & #3: Apodaca & Collins

After Mt Gardner, the two other Bowen Island peaks are Apodaca (SE) and Collins (NE).

Both have easy ways and hard ways to their summits. On their easy ascents, they make pleasant bike-and-hike adventures.

Running the West Coast Trail in One Day

After a glorious and triumphant return to the trail last weekend, I've updated the CFA posting on running the West Coast Trail in one day, which is a matter of some logistic complexity, caused particularly by the fact that the south trailhead is accessible only by water.

The 2011 update, along with a copy of my original 2006 article, is found here.
