Pump Bump - Whatever Next?

My Running Start to the New Year!

My idea of a good start to the New Year includes running 50km.  Doing anything less among our ultra friends always makes me feel like a couch potato.

Now, there are good reasons to opt out of a full 50km on New Year's Day:

Sibylle's 2010 Fitness Goals

Funny how a torn muscle can dampen the excitement of making New Year's Resolutions.  If you would have asked me 6 weeks ago, I would have been full of plans.  Now I am a bit more reluctant, but writing down my goals for 2010 will help to achieve them!

Here we go:

Goal #1: Vancouver New Years Day Fat Ass 50km.  I did have ambitions for improving my time, but because I am not quite recovered from my recent soleus tear, I will be overjoyed if I complete the full distance.

Youngest Bagger???

This summer has seen great outings into our beautiful and challenging back country to bag the peaks of the Bagger Challenge.  While I didn't get into it until late and subsequently don't have many peaks to my name, I enjoyed that this was something to do with the whole family.  There are many peaks that are perfectly suitable for younger ones... and we got proof right here (very sweet):

10 Points for Effort - Zero Points for the Bagger Challenge

Mid September, the family had planned and hoped to camp at the Frosty trail race and enjoy a last late season camping trip...but circumstances saw us throwing a birthday party for a freshly minted teenager and hauling dirt for the never ending backyard project...

Lost and Found

I lost my favorite Club Fat Ass Wear shirt.  For two days I've been completely stumped as to where and how and when - and of course miffed, as the bag that I lost also contained my favorite MEC pants, a fleece sweater and a brand new pair of wool running socks.

Gaiter Dreams

Since I don't actually own any running gaiters (the kind that are light weight, easy to put on and off, repel dirt and dust and are the subject of Lucinda's request for stories, features and tweets), but only winter gaiters for hiking or snowshoeing in deep powder, my story (I do want to qualify for Lucinda's prize winning gaiters after all) deals with my need for gaiters
