Baden Powell Trail Speed Record

I know this might open a can of worms and cause some debate but I am curious to know what the actual speed record would be for the Baden Powell Trail (I know KK is essentially the same but it does take a non BPT route for a few clicks).

Outside of KK anyone know whose the king (or queen) following the markers from end to end?

Just been curious, I have no ambition to try either!  Too many bloody stairs!

Gotta be the "running lung"

Hi Rune,

My guess would be still be a KK time.  Peter Findlay's 1991 Knee Knacker time of 4:45:11, still the 2nd overall fastest KKNSTR. Back then, the course followed the BP Trail, including turning right on the road to Lynn Headwaters, down to the suspension bridge on the west side of Lynn creek before crossing (no Varley Trail section).  The course DID include the run down the freeway access ramp and back up though, before passing by the trail head marker, so it was a little long

I have to echo Rick.  Peter

I have to echo Rick.  Peter Findlays times from the early 90's immediately came to my mind when I saw rune's question... but there are better record keepers and longer memories than mine out there (Enzo might have a word or two to say)

I would like to add that the BP has changed considerably since that time.  The most obvious and biggest change would be the new start because of the Highway construction.  Second, the changes running down into Cypress Bowl from the top of Black Mountain.  Followed by numerous trail improvements (does anybody remember the steep descent to the Headwaters road before the stairs were built?)

or the "other" stair

Must have blocked the pre-stair final descent to headwaters road from my memory, I was always so thankful to get on the pavement for a bit to make up some time.  I know the much shorter steep section just above that was always slow, too many toe grabbing roots.

The OLD stair to the Seymour River crossing was a bad one, it had partially collapsed and was in really rough shape just before the '94 KK.
